(refering to Gnaphthalium purpureum var. americanum) = Hill, 1986: Native. Annual or biennial. Apr.-July. Roadsides, shrub succession, fresh marsh margins. Infrequent but widespread on Assateague. Infrequent throughout MD. Specimens identified by Higgins as vars. falcatum (Lam.) Torr. & Gray and purpureum are this variety (Higgins #415, 416).MD & VA./, Park Species Data Source: Stalter, 1990
