Park Species Detail: Garman (1991) trapped 1 individual in the park during extensive trapping in 1987 and 1988 on MDI.
Coman (1987, 1981) have recently examined 12 specimens, have seen several, have seen several, and have received reports of many more on MDI; Examined a captive male that was captured during the summer of 1971 near Bubble Pond; not scarce on MDI.
Manville (1942) 3 specimens, 1 obtained at Bliss Field (east of Champlain Mountain) on 24 August 1934 (M. Branin), 1 obtained on Dike Peak (on the south shoulder of Cadillac Mountain) on 6 October 1934 (A. Stupka), and 1 killed by a domestic cat at Town Hill on 26 June 1936 (V. Lunt).
Branin (1939): One specimen was captured in a snap trap between 26 July 1934 and 23 September 1934. Trapped at the woods-meadow east of Champlain Mountain.

In legacy NPSpecies Residency was Unknown with comment: Likely breeding within the park, but no records. Godin (1977) normal home range is 30 to 40 square acres but may travel 2 or 3 miles in one night.
