Unfortunately, it has also escaped and is threatening natural areas in most areas of the US. Specific negative effects are associated with a loss of biodiversity resulting from the dense monocultures that can be formed. Infestations can be treated if caught early, else, the prolific reproductive ability of H. perforatum, will prevent easy and inexpensive management.
