Coman (1987, 1981) extremely shy snake on MDI, found along stream banks and on rocky hillsides.
Manville (1939) Occasionally found under rocks or logs in woods; reaching 720 feet elevation on Huguenot Head.
Manville (1938) 3 specimens collected including: Woods between Huguenot Head and Champlain Mountain on 25 July 1933 (REPT-7; A. Stupka); Under road near the Tarn on 11 June 1934 (REPT-13; V. Lunt); and South end of Jordan Pond on 26 August 1936 (REPT-21; P. Favour). Also reported killed on the road near Brown Mountain Gate House on 14 July 1938 (E. Sullivan; specimen not collected).
