Park Species Detail: Chalmers (1999): observed at Hemlock brook on 21 July 1999 and at Jordan Stream at 20 July 1999. Le (1999): 31 captured at Hunters Brook in 1998. Connery et al. (1998): Reported this species during searches of watersheds within the park during 1997. Coman (1987, 1981) Numerous on MDI. Burnley and Raha (1971) 2 were seen on the west shore of Jordan Pond near the Jordan Pond House on 24 August 1971; also seen in a swamp behind a beaver dam across the loop road from the Precipice Trail on Champlain Mountain on 25 August 1971; 2 adults observed along the east shore of Bubbles Pond on 25 August 1971; 6 were seen at a beaver dam north of Sieur de Monts Spring on 27 August 1971. Davis (1960) many young ones were observed on the new Champlain Mountain Road on 26 August 1958 (S.Davis and R. Davis). Davis (1958) 300+ individuals were observed and 3 specimens were collected during 1957 field work on MDI; many of these observations (details listed in report) were within park boundaries. Abundant on MDI. Manville (1939) common on MDI, found in a pool on the summit of Bernard Peak. Manville (1938) specimens from 1/2 mile south of The Tarn on 28 December 1934 (ANU-13; V. Lunt); Deer Brook on the side of Jordan Mountain at 600 feet elevation on 20 May 1936 (ANU-16; M. Sullivan); and Hadlock Brook on the west side of Sargent Mountain near Pulpit Rock on 11 July 1938 (ANU-19; R.
