Occurrence Notes
Tulane University voucher specimen Nolfo #113 was misidentified (as Setaria faberi) and redetermined to be Setaria parviflora by Ferguson and Gunn-Zumo (2007). Tulane University voucher specimens identified as Setaria geniculata auct. non (Wild.) Beauv. and then as Setaria glauca (L.) Beauv. by Dowling #264 for Barataria Unit and Bretting #139 for Chalmette Unit were misidenitified and redetermined to be Setaria parviflora by D.M. Ferguson (2008). Tulane University voucher specimen by Dowling #213 was identified as Setaria glauca (L.) Beauv. (=Setaria pumila ssp. pumila) and this identification verified by C. Allen (1991). This specimen was misidentified as redetermined to be Setaria parviflora by D.M. Ferguson (2008). Several Tulane University voucher specimens were identified by C. Allen in 1991 and/or A. Bradburn as Setaria glauca (L.) Beauv. (=Setaria pumila ssp. pumila). These include Nolfo #75 and 117 and Dowling #213, 296 and 264 for Barataria Unit and Bretting #105, 106 and 139 for Chalmette Unit. These were all misidentified and redetermined to be Setaria parviflora by D.M. Ferguson (2008). A voucher specimen of Setaria glauca sensu Vickery was not located at Tulane University by Ferguson in 2008. All voucher specimens at Tulane University are identified as Setaria glauca (L.) Beauv. Both Setaria glauca (L.) Beauv. and Setaria glauca sensu Vickery have been synonymized to Setaria pumila ssp. pumila. Any reports of Setaria glauca sensu Vickery are likely misidentified and should be Setaria parvilfora (Ferguson, 2008). Tulane University voucher specimens Bretting #105 and 106 were determined to be Setaria lutescens (=Setaria pumila ssp. pumila) and later as Setaria glauca (L.) Beauv. (=Setaria pumila ssp. pumila) by C. Allen (1991). These specimens were misidentified and redetermined to be Setaria parviflora by D.M. Ferguson (2008).; Data Source: Urbatsch, L. E., D. M. Ferguson and S. M. Zumo. 2007. Vascular plant inventories of Jean Lafitte Historical Park and Preserve, Barataria and Chalmette Units.
