Notes
Park Species Detail: Wiegand, 2001b: A Rare plant species known to occur within the District of Columbia portion of LOCO (along the C&O Canal NHP and Potomac River from the Maryland line to Key Bridge, Washington, D.C.) 3 sites found. Also a listed species in Maryland. Cranberry Meadows, 1997: Occasional, Cranberry Meadows and Chain Bridge Flats above and below Arizona Bridge. Terrell, 1970: Infrequent Woods; areas 1(Beginning of Canal in Georgetown to Chain Bridge, D. C.), 2 (Chain Bridge to Lock 10 parking area opposite Plummer's Island)), 3 (3 (Lock 10 to Carderock, north parking lot), ), 4 [Carderock to Cropley (parking area near Angler’s Inn)]; not seen in flower (GM lists fl. BioBlitz, 1997-Chain Bridge Flats: Below Fletchers, Warren Steiner, Jil Swearingen; inland from large syc. Tree w/picnic table lodged at base. Mile Post 4 to AZ Ave on flats, woods, riverside, Warren Steiner, Jil Swearingen, Larry Morse; nice, uninvaded floodplain forest. Wiegand, 2001b: Green dragon (Arisaema dracontium) is listed as a rare plant species in D.C. It was last reported from Chain Bridge Flats by C. Lea in 1999. However, suitable habitat remains intact in the area so more green dragon likely still occurs here.Status surveys for green dragon are highly recommended to fully determine its current status at Chain Bridge Flats. Found in Fletchers Floodplain Survey Site. Wiegand, 2001: Documented from Maryland during this survey from Sandy Hook, Maryland, to District of Columbia line.Wiegand, 1999: A Watch List species in Maryland, documented to occur in the gorge during this survey from Great Falls, Maryland, downriver to the District of Columbia line. Wiegand, 1995: Reported during this survey from Sandy Hook west to Cumberland., Park Species Data Source: BioBlitz, 1997-Chain Bridge Flats;Cranberry Meadows, 1997;Maxon, 1935;TNC, 1999;Terrell, 1970;Wiegand, 1999;Wiegand, 2001;Wiegand, 2001b;Wiegand, 1995;
