Notes
Park Species Detail: Killip, 1953: This specimen, in the National Herbarium, was not identified at the time of the preparation of the 1935 list. It has subsequently been named by Dr. L. H. Bailey. Bartgis, 1993: State rare plant, in Potomac Fall-Line. Wiegand, 2001b: A previously reported occurrence for Rock grape (Vitis rupestris), listed as a highly rare plant species in D.C., was not successfully updated during 1999-2000 field surveys. It was last reported from Chain Bridge Flats by L. Morse and D. Pavek in 1997 20m upstream of the platform at the river end of the Army Corps ditch.. No specific survey effort to relocate this species at Chain Bridge Flats was made during 1999-2000. However, suitable habitat remains intact in the area so the species likely still occurs here.Status surveys for rock grape are highly recommended to fully determine its current status at Chain Bridge Flats Survey Site. Found at 0 sies. A Highly Rare plant species known to occur within the District of Columbia portion of LOCO (along the C&O Canal NHP and Potomac River from the Maryland line to Key Bridge, Washington, D.C.) Also a listed species in Maryland. Wiegand, 2001: Documented in the survey area (from Sandy Hook, Maryland, to District of Columbia line) during 1999-2000 field surveys. Wiegand, 1999: Documented to occur in the gorge during this survey from Great Falls, Maryland, downriver to the District of Columbia line., Park Species Data Source: Bartgis, 1993;Killip, 1953;TNC, 1999;Wiegand, 1999;Wiegand, 2001;Wiegand, 2001b;
