Park Species Detail: Witt (1997) and Long (1987) report this species in areas adjacent to the park. Sharp (1997) Recorded during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996; not sure if this species was recorded within park boundaries. Long (1987): Fledglings observed in Bar Harbor, no other details given; rare resident on MDI. Russell (1984?) accidental spring and summer visitor, very rare to rare in winter; species has been extending its range northward in the last 2 decades. Bond (1969) vagrant to MDI. Legacy NPSpecies information may no longer be applicable, please remove if it is not applicable. In legacy NPSpecies Residency was Unknown with comment: Nesting on MDI (Long 1987), although no nesting records within park boundaries listed. Sibley (2000) year-round resident in Maine except for far northern Maine. Adamus (1983) breeds throughout the southern half of Maine.
