Notes
Park Species Detail: Terrell, 1970: Rare; rich woods in area 2 (2 (Chain Bridge to Lock 10 parking area opposite Plummer's Island). Fl. April. Wiegand, 2001b: A previously reported occurrence for Blue cohosh (Caulophyllum thalictroides), listed as a highly rare plant species in D.C., was not successfully updated during 1999-2000 field surveys. It was last reported from Chain Bridge Flats by C. Lea when he collected it in 1995 Directly under Chain Bridge in the scoured area. It has not been collected or reported from this area since that time, and Lea believes it was …probably washed away in 1996 floods. During this survey, several thorough searches of the area were conducted, but no plants were seen. However, suitable habitat remains intact in the area so the species may still occur here.Status surveys for this species are recommended to fully determine its current status at Chain Bridge Flats. Found at 0 sites. A Highly Rare plant species known to occur within the District of Columbia portion of LOCO (along the C&O Canal NHP and Potomac River from the Maryland line to Key Bridge, Washington, D.C., Park Species Data Source: Bartgis, 1993;Bilton, 1991-Ferry Hill;Maxon, 1935;TNC, 1999;Terrell, 1970; Wiegand, 2001b;
