Park Species Detail: Checklist information (abundance, nativity) updated 4/9/03 by professional judgement of Bruce Connery, ACAD wildlife biologist. Jones (1986) lists 6 observations on MDI. Russell (1984?) handwritten note reports an observation of 1 bird at Otter Cliffs on 25 December 1981 (WR et al.). Bond (1969) gyrfalcon is a rare visitant from the north that has occurred on MDI as early as late September. Palmer (1949) 1 seen on 4 November 1934 on Cadillac Mountain (Tyson and Bond); one seen in dark phase in early October of unstated year on MDI (Tyson and Bond) Bond (19??) rare transient and winter resident. Tyson and Bond (1941): one seen on Cadillac Mtn during November 1934. Sullivan (1937) one seen by C.J.
