Park Species Detail: Gounaris, 1998: Medium Invasive. Yorktown: Found within 9 fields, usually in poorly drained areas. /Salle, 1972: typical herb of roadsides and grassy clearings/Hobson, 1998: The exotic basket grass (Arthraxon hispidus) may threaten populations of sandpaper vervain." Not found to be common in the surveyed areas, but are likely to be more widespread than survey results indicate. . . . rated as "highly invasive" on the Invasive Alien Plant Species of Virginia list (DCR-DNH, 1996)., Park Species Data Source: Hobson, 1998-Yorktown Unit/ Cheatham and Wormley Pond Drainages;Gounaris, 2000 -Colonial Parkway/Jamestown Unit/Yorktown Unit
