Notes
Park Species Detail: Lea, Chris April, 2000: This species, reported by Hill (1986) from only two locations on the Maryland end of Assateague, was found to be somewhat frequent, but habitat restricted to poor fens ("shrub bogs") (which may be a state rare plant association type). When not in flower, it is very inconspicuous, and may be under-reported. The population is fairly isolated from present visitor activities and park operations, and no specific management or conservation measures are contemplated. Based on known Assateague occurrences alone, a recommended rank for this species in Maryland would be S1S2 (S1=Extremely rare; usually 5 or fewer populations or occurrences in the state; or may be a few remaining individuals; often especially vulnerable to extirpation. S2=Very rare; usually between 6 and 20 populations or occurrences; or with many individuals in fewer occurrences; often susceptible to becoming extirpated)./ Hill, 1986: Native. Annual herb. May-June. Flowers yellow. Bogs. Infrequent and local on the island, seen only at Fox Hills bogs and at McCabe House. See Vegetation Mapping Report. Infrequent to rare in MD, on coastal plain. Along with #326, one of only two insect-eating plants on the island. Family and species not reported by Higgins. MD only. Slides: B89d-1, B89d-2./
