Notes
Park Species Detail: "This peculiar species may actually be an inland lake form of Coregonus zenithicus (shortjaw cisco). I am working on its taxonomy, and it is unique irregardless of its actual nomenclature because of its status as the only inland lake population of a "chub" (deepwater cisco) species in the United States. Based primarily on the thinking of G. R. Smith and myself, it is listed in the Museum of Zoology, Univ. of Michigan Fish Distribution Maps as Coregonus zenithus - although it has not been formally synonymized" (pers. comm. T. N. Todd, 10/2002)., Park Species Data Source: Johnsson, R G, P C Shelton and P A Jordan. 1982. Wildlife of Isle Royale. Isle Royale Natural History Association, Houghton, MI. Thomas Todd, (U.S. Geological Survey, Great Lakes Sci. Center, Ann Arbor, MI), pers. comm., 9/2002.
