Park Species Detail: Hill, 1986: Native. Annual herb, to biennial. Branches low and ascending. Flowers yellow. June-Oct. Beach, disturbed sands. Frequent and widespread on Assateague. Infrequent in MD, restricted to the coast. Considered infrequent by the MNHP. (Higgins #300). MD & VA. Slide: B62-17. See Vegetation Mapping Report./Lea, 2000: Proposed rank change from 1994 Rank S3 (Rare to uncommon, usually between 20 and 100 populations or occurrences; may have fewer occurrences, but with a large number of individuals in some populations; may be susceptible to large-scale disturbances) to Proposed (1997) Rank S4 (Common; usually >100 populations or occurrences, but may be fewer with many large populations; may be restricted to only a portion of the state; usually not susceptible to immediate threats.)
