Notes
Park Species Detail: Lea, 2000: Carex stricta Lamarck (Tussock Sedge)Rare. Forested seepage swamp. A single location, at Great Falls Park, Virginia. AU previous material collected from the Gorge as C. stricta at US and at the Great Falls Park herbatium (single specimen, Grimshaw 842) has been determined to be C. emoryi. C. stricta is more characteristic of swamps andriparian wetlands with low current velocities. Locally, at least, it tends to grow in discrete, dense clumps that are not extensively stoloniferous. This represents the first confirmed report of the species from the Potomac Gorge. Early May. 1472 (US, Grfa)., Park Species Data Source: Lea, 2000
