Park Species Detail: Lea, 2000: Carex caroliniana Schweinitz (Carolina Sedge)Infrequent. Edges of forested vernal pools, Bear Island and Great Falls Park, Virginia, and in floodplain forest dominated by Quercusphellos at Fletcher's floodplain. This is a species primarily of the Coastal Plain in Maryland. It is difficult to distinguish from, and is often conbed with, several other members of this section. This is the fust District of Columbia record for C. caroliniana.
