Notes
Park Species Detail: Long (1987) reports a nest with two addled eggs was found at Beaverdam Pond in 1969; Nesting record in 1968 was "apparently the first nest records of the Least Bittern from Maine". Russell (1984?) 4 records since 1968, 3 records at Beaver Dam Pond and 1 record from Breakneck Pond. Adamus (1983): Approaches northern limit of range in Maine. Bond (1969) a pair inhabited Beaverdam Pond where they nested in a clump of cattails, nest observed on 11 June 1968 and young observed on 1 July 1968, this is apparently the first nesting record from Maine., Park Species Data Source: Witt (1997); Long (1987); Russell (1984?); Bond (1969)
