Notes
Park Species Detail: Bird checklist can be found at: http://nps.gov/npsa/book/30_birds.htm. The checklist states this species is a visitor to all islands except Rose, where it is a resident native.
Amerson et al. (1982) stated that the sooty tern is a common breeding bird on Rose Atoll, and is a visitor to Tutuila and Swains islands, and is seen at sea. This is the most common of the seabirds but the population is local. No reference for the park units has been found., Park Species Data Source: Bird Checklist for American Samoa
