Common across the Snake River Plain, but apparently rare in the Monument and the Shoshone BLM. Nearly all annual fescues in CRMO are Festuca (Vulpia) microstachys var pauciflora (= F. pacifica).

Note: Common in other parts of the Snake River Plain, but truly very uncommon in this Park Unit; Festuca pacifica, which is common in this Park Unit, is often misidentified as Festuca octoflora by the inexperienced.
