Fabre, 2007:Also see Observation evidence below./ Cook and Pinnock, 1989:Once common in pre-urban Jamaica Bay region, this species has been introduced to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and FBF by NPS using animals salvaged from habitats on Long Island slated for development. Over 60 have been released from 1984-1989 and offspring are now being found./Cook and Zuzworsky, 2000: From 1984-1989, 94 individuals were released at Ruler's Bar Hassock in Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. Through 1999, 55 offspring were noted./ Cook, 2002: Summary status through 1999 of restoration efforts at GATE-Established at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and Probably established at FBF./ Cook, 2005: Present at JBWR and FBF. Note-No evidence of a population at Sandy Hook although an old record does exist. Note-historic specimen from Great Kills, Staten Island (voucher not available), now extirpated from this area./; Data Source: Cook, 2005
