Park Species Detail: Witt (1997) Reports this species in areas adjacent to the park.
Mittelhauser (1991) none observed from Great Head to Hunter's Beach on 20 January 1991; 12 observed from Seawall Point to Ship Harbor area on 20 January 1991.
Russell (1984?) Very common fall and spring migrant; very common in winter, uncommon in summer. Lists records outside of the park.
Bond (1969) occasionally seen off MDI during the summer; most of the colonies in North America are on islans in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Bond (19??) winter visitant on MDI; not uncommon.
Sullivan (1937): Winter visitor, September to May.
Eliot (1931) Observed on Mount Desert Island during June 1931; observed in The Narrows on 4 July 1931.
