Park Species Detail: Lam, 1985:Voucher specimens collected during this survey (May, 1984-May, 1985) and stored at George Mason University herbarium./Dodge, 2000:Visually IDed this species only, no specimen vouchered./Lam, 1985: There were two other areas where pines had been planted by the park service in the past. These areas were next to one another on the west side of the road to the Muse's. The younger of the two, the one to the north, was approximately fifteen years old. It also contained, howver, a large number of hardwood trees. Most of these were either Acer rubrum or Liquidambar styraciflua. Species such as Acer Rubrum, Cornus florida and Ilex opaca made up much of the subcanopy./Hamilton, 2005: Synonym Ilex opaca var. opaca Ait., TSN# 27983, Van Alstine, 2004./, Park Species Data Source: Lam, 1985; Dodge, 2000; lam, 1985
