Tulane University voucher specimen by Darwin #2246 was misidentified (as Spartina spartinae) and redetermined to be Spartina patens by D.M. Ferguson (2008). The specimen is sterile, but the ligules are <1mm long, which is consistent with Spartina patens. Spartina spartinae had not been reported in NPSpecies before.; Data Source: Urbatsch, L. E., D. M.
