Occurrence Notes
A fairly common summer resident in pinyon-juniper woodlands, where it prefers sloping terrain, low shrubs, and slightly lower elevations than the Plumbeous Vireo (Corman 2005c). While it is seldom seen in the dense pinyon-juniper on the South Rim, it is frequently found below the rim and at slightly lower elevations just to the south. It occurs elsewhere throughout the region as an uncommon migrant. Most spring migrants occur in April and early May, with occasional stragglers seen into early June. Fall migrants appear by 18 Aug. Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011. Annotated Checklist of the Birds of the Grand Canyon Region. 3rd edition.
