Notes
Park Species Detail: Bartgis, 1993: State rare plant, in Potomac Fall-Line. Wiegand, 2001b: A previously reported occurrence for Bur oak (Quercus macrocarpa), listed as a highly rare tree species in D.C., was not successfully updated during 1999-2000field surveys. It was last reported from Chain Bridge Flats by RL. Bartgis as 20-30 trees, none large, in >2 acres in 1988. Bartgis reported the trees along Potomac banks on either side of MdDC lie. No specific survey effort to relocate this species at Chain Bridge Flats was made during 1999-2000. However, suitable habitat remains intact in the area so the species likely still occurs here.Status surveys for bur oak are highly recommended to fully determine its current status at Chain Bridge Flats Survey Site. Found at 0 sites. A Highly Rare plant species known to occur within the District of Columbia portion of LOCO (along the C&O Canal NHP and Potomac River from the Maryland line to Key Bridge, Washington, D.C.) Also a listed species in Maryland. Wiegand, 2001: Documented in the survey area (from Sandy Hook, Maryland, to District of Columbia line) during 1999-2000 field surveys. Wiegand, 1999: Documented to occur in the gorge during this survey from Great Falls, Maryland, downriver to the District of Columbia line., Park Species Data Source: Bartgis, 1993;TNC, 1999;Wiegand, 1999;Wiegand, 2001;Wiegand, 2001b;
