A fairly common spring and early summer resident of low elevation desertscrub and riparian habitats. It occurs most frequently below Phantom Ranch, but irregularly appears upstream to Lees Ferry. In some years it may be very common, as in the spring of 1999 when 60 males were seen along the river in April and May (LaRue et al. 2001). Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011.
