An accidental fall migrant, an immature jaeger was seen migrating just south of the Desert View Sewage Lagoons on 2 Sept 2011 (Brian P. Gatlin, Madeline C. Tighe). While it could not be identified to species, it was either a Long-tailed Jaeger (S. longicaudus) or Parasitic Jaeger (S. parasiticus). This is the first jaeger of any type recorded in the Grand Canyon region. Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011. Annotated Checklist of the Birds of the Grand Canyon Region. 3rd edition.
