Occurrence Notes
This vole was not encountered during the small mammal inventory; however, a recent (2003) collection (UAM) of taiga
voles from Wellesley Lakes, Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge, close to the northeastern-most
boundary of WRST, suggests their probable occurrence within the Preserve. Further sampling of
older burn areas in the vicinities of Stevens and Carden lakes should add this species to WRST’s
documented list. (Cook+ MacDonald 2003)
