Taxonomy Notes: valid; General Notes: ITIS uses ""sylvaticus"" after the change in genus, rather than ""sylvatica""; Most eastern NA ranids have been separated out from the old world and western Rana and asigned to the genus Lithobates Fitzinger, 1843 according to ITIS
