A fairly common summer resident of slopes and hillsides with pinyon-juniper woodlands and Great Basin grasslands and desertscrub. It is a rare spring and fall migrant along the Colorado River. There is one winter record of a bird seen at RM 246 on upper Lake Mead on 22 Feb 1999 (Lara L. Dickson, Roger K. Radd, Charles T. LaRue). Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011. Poorwill (Phalaenoptilus nuttallii) * Common Poorwill is a fairly common summer resident of slopes and hillsides with pinyon-juniper woodlands and Great Basin grasslands and desertscrub.
