A rare summer resident of mixed conifer forest on the Kaibab Plateau. It is an uncommon winter resident in pinyon-juniper and ponderosa pine forests on the South Rim, and a rare winter resident along the Colorado River. Wintering birds and migrants are present from 25 Sept through 20 Apr. Conditions may vary among subspecies. Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011.
