Occurrence Notes
A fairly common summer resident of marshy habitats along the Colorado River and its perennial tributaries. It is a fairly common spring and fall migrant along the river and is an uncommon migrant on the rims, particularly at tanks and sewage ponds. Spring migrants occur mostly in April, while most fall migrants on the rims occur from 30 Aug to 29 Sept. Common Yellowthroat is a casual winter resident along the Colorado River: one was at RM -3 on 3 Jan 2002 (Christine E. Goetze) and one was at RM 50 on 10 Jan and 14 Feb 1999 (Charles T. LaRue, Roger K. Radd, Peter G. Friederici). Conditions may vary among subspecies. Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011. Annotated Checklist of the Birds of the Grand Canyon Region. 3rd edition.
