A common summer resident throughout almost the entire region except the highest mixed conifer forests of the North Rim where it is rare. Brown et al. (1985) considered the species an irregular winter visitor, but there are no winter records in the last 25 years. Conditions may vary among subspecies. Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011. For (Molothrus ater) * Brown-headed Cowbird, which colonized the region beginning in the 1930s (Brown et al. 1985), is a common summer resident throughout almost the entire region except the highest mixed conifer forests of the North Rim where it is rare. Brown et al. (1985) considered the species an irregular winter visitor, but there are no winter records in the last 25 years. Conditions may vary among subspecies. Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011.
