Pituophis catenifer deserticola (Great Basin Gopher Snake) is a common species of the plateau prairie, desert scrub, pinyon-juniper, and ponderosa pine habitats. The subspecies ranges from the Upper Sonoran Life Zone to the Canadian Life Zone and has been reported on both rims.
