Occurrence Notes
An uncommon spring and common fall migrant throughout the region. Most spring migrants occur from 17 Apr to 24 May. Fall migrants may appear from 19 Jul to 12 Oct, but most are seen between mid-August and the end of September. Orange-crowned Warbler is an uncommon winter resident along the Colorado River, particularly in the western part of the region, and is an irregular winter visitor in tributary riparian habitat. It may breed on the Kaibab Plateau where mixed conifer and deciduous trees and shrubs provide suitable habitat, but confirmation is lacking (Corman 2005e). The Arizona Breeding Bird Atlas found several singing males in June near Big Springs and Saddle Mountain (Corman 2005e). Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011. Annotated Checklist of the Birds of the Grand Canyon Region. 3rd edition.
