It is an irregular but often common fall, winter, and spring visitor in pinyon-juniper woodlands and also in ponderosa pine forest, where migrants augment the local residents’ numbers. Migrants and visitors in pinyon-juniper span nearly the entire year, from 6 Jul to 27 May.
