Occurrence Notes
An uncommon spring and fall migrant in open areas throughout the region. The Arizona Breeding Bird Atlas noted a possible breeding attempt: a pair was seen in the montane meadows of DeMotte Park on 17 Jul 1993 (Corman 2005g). It is a casual winter visitor, with four records from throughout the region. Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011. Annotated Checklist of the Birds of the Grand Canyon Region. 3rd edition. -- It is likely that the voucher identified to subspecies P. s. sandwichensis was not actually that subspecies.
