E. clarus is a large skipper mostly of the North Rim because of its abundance of the larval host plant New Mexico Locust (Robinia neomexicana). With the Grand Canyon North Rim’s increased large scale wildland fires, Robinia neomexicana has responded quicly with new growth, and so the E. clarus seems assured of habitat. Hannawacker 2015
