P. albescens and P. communis cannot be determined from one another, though it is assumed that Grand Canyon has both species present. It is likely that P. albescens is at the low elevation deserts, and P. communis are at the higher elevation rims, but thus far, no genitalia dissections have been made to confirm this. They have a similar natural history. Larvae eat mallows (Malvaceae). Adults fly at warm months.
