Specimen(s) collected during a study of coastal rock pools of Lake Superior at Isle Royale. Two shoreline zones were differentiated using a line between upslope “lichen zone” pools and downslope “splash zone” pools. See citation for details.
Distribution — Holarctic, with a wide Nearctic range.
Ecology — Lakes, ponds, rivers and drains. Genus somewhat tolerant of pollution.
Remarks — One IRNP specimen from a splash zone pool. No source found for the other known Nearctic species, P. cubita (Garrett).
