Specimen(s) collected during a study of coastal rock pools of Lake Superior at Isle Royale. Two shoreline zones were differentiated using a line between upslope “lichen zone” pools and downslope “splash zone” pools. See citation for details.
Distribution — Broad Nearctic distribution south of the arctic.
Ecology — Larvae consume diatoms, detritus and filamentous algae. Generally in streams and creeks. Has been found to be tolerant of urban stormwater runoff, suggesting pollution tolerance.
Remarks — IRNP specimens from splash zone pools.
