This is an eastern species found from southern Canada to Florida and west to the 100th Meridian in the USA but all the way to British Columbia in Canada, however there is another population known from Arizona and California. (Oliver Flint, 1/25/10)

Notes
The larvae construct packets of debris which they carry on their backs with only the head and legs projecting out when moving. When resting they may withdraw totally underneath the packet. (Oliver Flint, 1/25/10)
