Cole (1940) found this species commonly at lower elevations, specifically a piney area in Cades Cove. MacGown and Hill collected this ant in an open mixed pine-hardwood forest along the Hyatt Lane cutoff in Cades Cove and in old-growth forest above Laurel Falls.
