This species and A. rudis, represent a difficult species complex to separate. Typically A. picea is darker in color and occurs at higher elevations. MacGown and Hill found this species to be very abundant at higher elevations where they found them nesting in rotting wood. Park Distribution: TN (Annotated List 9/10/19)
