A common permanent resident with confirmed breeding on Upper Lake Mead. Migrants occur irregularly elsewhere along the Colorado River. Clark’s Grebe was formerly considered the same species as Western Grebe. Therefore many past records for Western Grebe may actually pertain to this species (see previous account).
