Park Species Detail: Long (1987): seen regularly at Bass Harbor Head; no nests discovered.
Russell (1984?) uncommon spring and fall migrant; maximum spring count of 3 at Sieur de Monts Spring on 2 June 1972 (W. Russell); late fall record of 1 at Wonderland on 1 October 1972 (W. Russell); in early June, Sieur de Monts Spring usually has from 1 to 3 individuals in the vicinity of the wildflower garden; not known to breed on MDI; It breeds within 50 miles of MDI; singing males and occasionally pairs have been observed during the summer on MDI.
Bond (1969) may breed on MDI occasionally.
Bond (19??) probably fairly common transient; one summer record and may nest occasionally.
Tyson and Bond (1941): Rarest of the warblers known to nest on or near MDI; occasionally pairs remain to breed.
Sullivan (1937) Very rare, male seen and heard every day 1-17 June 1927 at Asticou by Mr. And Mrs. R.C. Robbins and Mrs. C.S. Frost (Pellew).

In legacy NPSpecies Residency was Unknown with comment: Have bred in the park in past years, but no recent breeding records (Witt 1997). Adamus (1983) breeding scattered throughout Maine except in southwestern corner of the state.
