Park Species Detail: Long (1987): Widespread on MDI. Sharp (1997) Recorded from within park boundaries during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996. North and Chidester (1986) Observed from Jordan Cliffs between July and September 1986. Russell (1984?) common spring through fall; maximum fall count of 50+ in the Ship Harbor area on 11 September 1966 (G. White). Duley and North (1984) observed at Jordan Cliffs between May and September 1984. Bond (1969) widespread on MDI. Bond (1955): One of the commonest warblers in the Ship Harbor area. Allen (1969): Present at Western Point; singing males observed (presumably on territory). Davis (1961): Present in his spruce/fir study plots within the park on MDI between 25 June and 5 July 1959; considered a breeding bird. Bond (19??) very common summer resident; 1 or more nests have been found. Tyson and Bond (1941): Abundant on MDI. Sullivan (1937) Abundant summer resident; nest with young found on 27 June 1924 (Pellew); no locations given. Farley (1935) reported 29 pairs on MDI, observed between 12 June and 22 June 1934. Anthony (1933): 2 banded at Great Head between 12 August 1929 and 26 June 1933. Eliot (1931): Common in the Northeast Harbor area, distributed over whole area, settled or wild. Also observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R. Robbins on 3 June 1915 and 26 May 1916.
