Park Species Detail: Hill, 1986: Native. Tree. Young female cones pale green. 'Flowering' April-May. Woodland, occasionally in shrub sucession. Infrequent on Assateague, seen at North Beach, Pine Tree Canoe-in, and Hungerford cabin, with loblolly pines; frequent to abundant in MD overall, the dominant pine of the piedmont. (Higgins #14).
