Notes
Park Species Detail: Hill, 1986: Native. Perennial herb. Petals magenta-pink, anthers yellow. July-Sept. Fresh marsh, usually full sun. Infrequent but widespread on Assateague, as also in MD overall. Reported by Higgins and Harvill (1967) as R. virginica L. The Assateague specimens are somewhat intermediate between the two species and may represent a hybrid swarm, but they clearly have non-tuberous, stoloniferous roots and the more frequent hairs of R. mariana, as well as narrower leaves. (Higgins #293). MD & VA?. Slide: B61-3./
Hamilton, 2004: See Folder #405 ASIS Herbarium which also contains a Hill voucher for Rhexia mariana var. marianna. Voucher specimen probable at CNWR./, Park Species Data Source: Hill, 1986
